Waxy red cherries can be discerned in the deep aromatics of the 1999 Gevrey-Chambertin Lavaux St.-Jacques. This dense, candied wine is exquisitely ripe, offering a compote of black cherries, blackberries, licorice, and hints of oak in its flavor profile. Its exceptionally long and pure finish reveals massive quantities of marvelously ripened tannin. Drink it between 2004 and 2011.
