The 2017 Marko Gure Arbasoak is a blend of 45% Hondarribi Zuri Zerratia (Petit Courbu), 45% Hondarribi Zuri (Gros Courbu) and 10% Izkiota Txikia (Petit Manseng) fermented in a combination of stainless steel and used barriques with indigenous yeasts and matured for eight moths with the lees. This has the tension I was looking for, with ripe yellow fruit but a sharper and more mineral palate (despite the slightly higher alcohol). I would never guess this was a Txakoli if tasted blind, as it has a round and creamy texture and completely different flavors and aromas. A white wine of character. Gure Arbasoak means ""Our Ancestors" in the Basque language. 5,300 bottles were filled in July 2018.
