This is one of the two stars of the Chevillon stable. This wine has the greatest depth of fruit and length of Chevillon's 1986s. Les Vaucrains has a smoky, berry-scented bouquet, rich, medium- to full-bodied flavors, good tannins, excellent balance, and aging potential until 1993-2001. Chevillon also made very high-quality 1987s, but his production in that vintage is tiny because of hail damage in June. Here is a Burgundy producer whose wines can be bought with great confidence.
