I tasted two vintages of this red wine. The 2014 Venus la Universal is from a rainy vintage that required a later harvest, and the wine has less tension and a higher pH, which provides a sensation of higher ripeness. The fruit is black rather than red, and the palate is rounder and mellower. There are just under 6,000 bottles of this.

Cherry, licorice, underbrush and loamy earth notes mingle in this bright red. Light, firm tannins and racy acidity give a lively structure. Expressive, this is a bit savage. Decant.
