I also tasted the 2012 Venus la Universal, from a very warm year that has already developed tertiary notes. It has sweet and round tannins, similar to 2011, even if the aromas might be different. Here you feel the rusticity of Cari?ena with its tree bark aromas and those dusty notes. It somehow made me think of a Priorat, even though the soils are rich in clay and limestone; there's an iron, bloody note that reminded me of the aromas that develop in slate soils. Perhaps it's the warmth of the year.
