This wine has a ruby/amber color, and a seductive, velvety, black cherry fruitiness interlaced with smells of vanillin oakiness, leather, and decaying leaves. The tannin is obvious and harsh. The Volnay Premier Cru is deep, with layers of rich fruit and 5-8 years of further evolution.
