The 1998 Brunello di Montalcino, a medium ruby/garnet, more fresh than sustained in color, features a spicy nose with much cedar, cloves, vanilla, and cinnamon. Somewhat tightly wound on the palate and with a hint of dry tannins in the finish, its intensity and vigor are better than its weight and depth. Drink: 2005-2008, but the flesh to stay the course does not seem to be here.
This is another house that is looking to the oak to give a certain style to the wines. I would like to see more concentration and roundness as well.
