The 2007 Brunello di Montalcino Vigna delle Raunate is a beautiful wine that captures the essence of the year and the best of the house style. A blast of dark red cherries, flowers, licorice, mint and smoke hits the palate as this extroverted Brunello opens up in the glass. The oak is beautifully balanced and the wine’s overall sense of harmony is terrific. The wine shuts down quickly in the glass, a very positive sign for the future. This red has a lot of character, from the cherry, strawberry, iron and balsamic flavors to the mouthcoating grip of tannins.
