The 1993 Onix exhibits more alcohol than the 1992, as well as jammy cherry notes to accompany its full-bodied, unctuous texture. Not surprisingly, its color is a more saturated ruby/purple. It should drink well for 4-5 years. The 1992 and 1993 Onix regular cuvees and the 1991 Onix Reserva, made from Garnacha, Mazuelo, and a tiny quantity of Cabernet Sauvignon, are from the appellation of Priorato. They are full, rich wines made in a style similar to a forceful, beefy, peppery, full-bodied wine from one of the better southern Rhone villages. All are husky, mouthfilling, expansively-flavored wines. the 1992 and 1993 Onix regular cuvees are best buys!Importer: Jorge Ordonez 39 Constance Road, West Roxbury, MA 02132; telephone (617) 327-1613; telefax (617) 323-0455. I am delighted to note that Jorge Ordonez is one of only a handful of wine importers who exclusively uses reefer (refrigerated) containers for shipment of all his wines.
