Showing nicely in the vintage, the 2013 Chateauneuf du Pape offers attractive notes of blackberries, crushed rocks, leather and wild herbs to go with a medium-bodied, balanced feel on the palate. It shows the austere edge that’s common in the vintage, but it has a classic feel and will drink well for 10-12 years. The blend here is 65% Grenache, 20% Syrah, 10% Mourvèdre and 5% Cinsault that was raised mostly in concrete tank, yet with 30% in a combination of demi-muid and barrels.
