Reminiscent of the 1996 in its high acid, tangy red fruit character, the 2001 Crozes-Hermitage Le Grand Courtil is well-made, but too tart, lean, and austere for my palate. Anticipated maturity: now-2009.
Ferraton’s wines are made under the auspices of Michel Chapoutier and his talented oenologist, Alberic Mazoyer. Two levels of quality are offered, the negociant cuvees (made from purchased wines and/or grapes) and the single vineyard estate offerings.
