The impressive ruby/purple color of the 1992 Nuits St. Georges Les Vaucrains is followed by a tight, spicy, earthy, licorice, and black-cherry-scented nose, dense, full-bodied, moderately tannic, impressively concentrated flavors, and a firm, structured finish. Drink it between 1998-2010.
The three 1992 offerings from young Bertrand Ambroise reviewed in this issue are atypically masculine, big, forceful, dense, tannic wines that behave more like 1990s than the soft 1992s. None is ready for prime time drinking as they all require cellaring of several years.
