The 1996 Chateauneuf du Pape is unquestionably a fine Fortia. This is one of the few Chateauneuf du Papes that contains a significant percentage of Syrah (usually about 40%). This wine exhibits a deep ruby color, as well as a sweet, black raspberry, and blackberry-scented nose with herb and spice notes. The wine possesses fine body and purity, in addition to moderate tannin in the finish. It will benefit from 1-2 years of cellaring, and keep for a decade. This wine is being made by the well-known Cornas oenologist, Jean-Luc Colombo. Importer: Alain Junguenet, Wines of France, Mountainside, NJ; tel. (908) 654-6173
