A blend of 92.6% Cabernet Sauvignon and 7.4% Petit Verdot, this potentially profound Monte Rosso Cabernet was aged in 100% new oak (90% French and 10% American). It even eclipsed the hotter vintage of 2004 in natural alcohol, coming in at 15.25%. Only 700 cases were produced. The wine is loaded, with an inky/blue/purple color as well as notes of graphite, damp earth, forest floor, lavender, creme de cassis, blackberries, and an atypical hint of chocolate. Dense, full-bodied and multilayered with fabulous upside potential, it can be drunk now if it is decanted, but promises to be even better in 20-25 years. A wow wine!
