This was a strong showing for this vintage which outclassed its more heralded 2002 sibling. The 2003, a blend of 98.1% Cabernet Sauvignon and 1.9% Pinot Noir (that’s not a typo!), finished at 14.66% natural alcohol. A beautiful effort, it reveals abundant amounts of spring flowers, black currants, toasty oak and scorched earth, a plush, full-bodied texture, impressive purity and more complexity, richness and length than the 2002. Production for the 2003 was relatively low at 1,139 cases. It should drink well for another 20+ years. Anticipated Maturity: now-2030 +.
