A spectacular offering from the Monte Rosso Vineyard, the 2001, like the other cuvees, is virtually 100% Cabernet Sauvignon with under 3% Merlot included in the blend. Aged in both French and American oak, it achieved 14.5% natural alcohol and the production was 1,800 cases. An opaque ruby/purple color is followed by aromas of graphite, blueberries, black currants, scorched earth, and a Graves-like character. This deep, full-bodied, broodingly backward Cabernet Sauvignon reveals a sensational finish of nearly 45 seconds, a multidimensional mouthfeel, and 25-30 years of upside remaining. Anticipated Maturity: 2015-2035.
