The 2008 Barbaresco Asili is a plump, juicy wine loaded with dark red fruit, mocha, flowers and spices. This is an unusually fleshy Barbaresco for the vintage made in a fruit-driven style. Maybe it is a function of the vintage, but I don’t see a ton of Nebbiolo pedigree coming through. Still, the wine is quite attractive on its own terms. Anticipated maturity: 2013-2018.
