The 2006 Barbaresco Asili reveals pretty aromatics that meld into a soft core of red fruit. The wine shows off an attractive brightness but not quite the depth and concentration of the finest vintages. Still, the finish and quality of the tannins are classy. Anticipated maturity: 2010-2020.
Proprietor Giulio Grasso makes his Barbarescos in a plump, juicy fruit-driven style. These 2006s don’t quite match the level of his 2004s and 2005s but they are nevertheless solid efforts in this vintage.
