The 2006 Barbaresco Asili reveals pretty aromatics that meld into a soft core of red fruit. The wine shows off an attractive brightness but not quite the depth and concentration of the finest vintages. Still, the finish and quality of the tannins are classy. Anticipated maturity: 2010-2020. Proprietor Giulio Grasso makes his Barbarescos in a plump, juicy fruit-driven style. Blueberry aromas, with hints of milk chocolate, lead to a full-body, with an attractive concentration of clean fruit and light cream. Long and caressing. Tight now, but should develop nicely.
