Sweet plums and jammy black cherries are found in the aromatic profile of the 2000 Gevrey-Chambertin Clos Saint-Jacques. A forward, lush, plump wine, it has superb breadth and depth, followed by opulent waves of spicy black raspberries and cherries that linger throughout its well-endowed finish. Refined, yet powerful, it is generously fruity and highly expressive. Projected maturity: now-2010.
Concerning the 2000s, Clair offered that the wines “have the tenderness of the 1999s”. His chef de cave, Philippe Brun, added that “the 2000s handle contact with air surprisingly well.”
