For a peppery, fleshy, and large-sized wine, the dark ruby/purple-colored 1998 St. Jakobi Shiraz reveals plenty of smoke, earth, and black fruits. A sweet, earthy entry on the palate is followed by full body, and a layered finish with low acidity, ripe tannin, and easy accessibility. It should drink well for 8-10 years.
