Grosset's 1997 Chardonnay Piccadilly is a well-delineated, impeccably vinified offering. About 45% of this cuvee is given malolactic fermentation. The wine is young but potentially complex, with full body, a smoky, buttery, roasted hazelnut-scented nose, and tight yet impressively rich, structured flavors that open as the wine sits in the glass. This wine should be better with another 6-12 months of bottle age, and last for 3-5 years.
