The 2010 Furvus, a blend of 80% Garnacha and the rest Merlot, is a good combination of Mediterranean and Atlantic characters with notes of cassis, ripe plums, esparto grass and raspberry leaf aromas, while the palate feels very spicy with soil-driven flavors and texture and a long aftertaste where a note of faint violets develops slowly. Vinyes Domenech is one of the up-and-coming new names of Montsant. The company is named after its organically farmed, 15-hectare property and is quite ecological-minded, as 90% of electricity used is from renewable sources and all their water comes from rain and other natural sources.
