The 2009 Furvus is a blend of 70% Garnacha and 30% Merlot from vines grown at an altitude of 450 meters and aged in a combination of first, second and third-year 300-litre French barrels and 10% in 10-year-old American oak barrels. It has a bouquet that takes you straight into the wild Montsant hills with white fennel, white pepper, broom and rosemary. The palate is medium-bodied, with a smooth, dark chocolate-tinged entry, crisp acidity and a slightly chewy finish. It is missing a little harmony at the moment, although that is probably because it has only been bottled three weeks previously. Its substance suggests it should age well over 5 to 8 years.
