Among the wines that emerge from Mondavi's architecturally stunning winery in Oakville in Napa Valley, there is a ripe, toasty, honeyed, richly oaky, big Reserve Chardonnay, of which the 1991 and 1990 are typical. Although I have been disappointed with how some of the Reserve Chardonnays have aged, the 1990 should last for at least 3-4 years, the 1991 for 2-3 years. While expensive, it is one of the best California Chardonnay produced.
