The 1993 offers a dark, saturated ruby color with some garnet at the edge. The wine exhibits sexy, sweet, red and black fruits, as well as smoky/roasted Provencal herbs in its fragrant aromatics. Rich, full-bodied, round, and remarkably supple for such a young Clos du Mont-Olivet Chateauneuf du Pape, this delicious wine should be drunk over the next 7-8 years.
Over the years, Clos du Mont-Olivet has provided me with considerable pleasure. Their traditionally made, old-styled Chateauneuf du Papes can be drunk young, but they also admirably stand the test of time.
