While last year I had a preference for the 2016 Gigondas Confidentiel over the Terre des A?nés, this year I felt they were pretty equivalent in quality. The full-bodied Confidentiel is more open-knit in texture, velvety versus silken, with bright raspberry and cherry fruit and hints of chocolate and leather on the long finish. You won't go wrong with either (or some of each).

Fresh, with bright raspberry and cherry preserve notes streaming through, laced with subtle anise, apple wood and fruitcake notes.
