The same blend and élevage, the 2005 Gigondas Confidentiel is a tiny production release that comes from a single parcel in the La Beaumette lieu-dit. It exhibits impressive notes of plum, chocolate, violets and cedar to go with a full-bodied, rich, textured and forward style. I always find subtle volatile acidity in this cuvee, but it’s nicely managed and doesn’t detract. This is a rock solid Gigondas to enjoy over the coming 3-4 years as well.

Juicy and concentrated, with dark fig, plum and blackberry flavors wrapped up in coffee, dark licorice, black tea and tar notes. The long finish has some muscle, but this is accessible now, thanks to its creamy exterior. Yet there's plenty in reserve. Grenache and Mourvèdre.
