The 2014 Idus is a blend of old Cari?ena with 30% Garnacha purchased from local growers and has 15.5% alcohol, reflecting the ripe house style. It fermented in stainless steel with indigenous yeasts and matured in 225- and 300-liter French oak barrels, 35% of them new, for 14 months. It's marginally fresher and with less oak, but it's still a powerful, concentrated, modern and well-oaked rendition of Priorat with abundant grainy and slightly astringent tannins that might need some more time in bottle. 6,293 bottles were filled in May 2016.
