The 1994 Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvee Beauvenir is beginning to reveal some secondary aromatic nuances. It is a powerful, intensely rich, unctuously-textured wine with honeyed pineapple and floral aromas, intense, chewy, full-bodied flavors, terrific fruit purity and intensity, and a spicy, long finish. This wine should continue to drink well for 4-5 years, perhaps longer. I suspect La Nerthe will make even greater wine, but there is no reason to complain about the quality emanating from this, Chateauneuf du Pape's most historical estate, and its only grand chateau.
