The red 2020 Los Cantos de Torremilanos was produced with Tempranillo and 3% Merlot grapes from their vineyards on boulder, sand and limestone soils from the river. It has 14% alcohol but is fresh and vibrant, balanced and tasty, with very integrated oak after 13 months in 225-liter oak barrels. Great value. 115,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in August 2022.

2019 was warm and dry, and the wines are powerful and quite tannic, as I see in the 2019 Los Cantos de Torremilanos, which coupled with a longer élevage (15 months in barrel) resulted in a tougher wine. It has concentration from low yields and keeps the freshness but with a dry finish and not enough fat. This is 100% Tempranillo; it was not a year for Merlot, which in other vintages represents a small percentage of this wine. This was bottled in January 2021, also because there was no availability of bottles...

I love the 2018 Los Cantos de Torremilanos, produced with grapes from their vineyards on boulder (cantos in Spanish), sand and limestone soils from the river. Despite being 14.5% alcohol, the wine is fresh and vibrant, balanced and tasty, with very integrated oak after 13 months in 225-liter oak barrels. 150,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in September 2020.

The 2017 Los Cantos de Torremilanos is from a catastrophic harvest after terrible spring frost. Because of the conditions of the year, this is an unusual blend—something like 75% Tempranillo, 17% Cabernet Sauvignon and dollops of Garnacha, Viura, Albillo and Merlot—that achieved 14.4% alcohol (the year was warm and dry and the harvest was very early) and matured in oak barrels for 18 months. The nose shows some toasted notes, and the palate reveals abundant tannins. It's a decent wine that shows the shortages of the harvest. 30,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in November 2019.

The 2016 Los Cantos de Torremilanos is 95% Tempranillo and 5% Merlot from younger trellised vines. It fermented in stainless steel and matured in 225-liter oak barrels for 16 months and has a clean nose with berry fruit and some spices, with nicely integrated oak. The palate is medium-bodied, and the tannins are fine, slightly dusty. 90,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in February 2019.
