There are just four barrels of the 2016 Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Les Charmois, the entirety sold in the USA. It has a pure, strawberry pastille and redcurrant-scented bouquet with hints of damp woodland and cedar. I like the manner in which this unfurls. The palate is fresh and taut on the entry with chalky tannin, veins of orange pith infusing the brambly red fruit with a finish that, for me, just clams up a little prematurely at the moment. It should improve and gain more corpulence by the time of bottling.
