The smoky 2011 Libranza made me think of a northern Rh?ne with some cured meat and violets aromas. It had a polished palate with fine tannins and a supple finish. 20,000 bottles produced.

The 2010 Libranza, pure Tinta de Toro, was aged in French oak for 14 months and has abundant wood-related aromas, creamy oak, sweet spices and a core of ripe berries. The palate is medium-bodied, soft and round; it has been polished by time in bottle and now feels elegant, quite harmonious, supple and tasty. It is easy to drink. 20,000 bottles.

The 2008 Libranza is aged in French and American oak for 13 months. It offers a ripe strawberry and dark plum bouquet, the oak nicely integrated with scents of dates and marmalade emerging with aeration. The palate is sweet and a little cloying on the entry. It is soft and rounded in the mouth but needs more tension and backbone on the easy-drinking finish. Drink now-2016. The 2006 Libranza is 100% Tempranillo from 120-year-old vines aged for 14 months in French oak. A glass coating opaque purple color, it has a similar roasted herb note along with pencil lead, licorice, espresso, lavender, black cherry, and blackberry aromas. More structured, with 4-6 years of cellaring potential, it has huge volume, great concentration, succulent fruit, and a totally pleasure-bent personality.
