Good bright, deep red. Musky raspberry and strawberry aromas are complicated by a peppery component and notes of plum and musky oak. Dense, dry and sappy, showing a distinctly savory character to the flavors of plum, mocha, pepper and spices. This chewy, lively, rather ethereal wine finishes with a saline nuance. My bottle took on a silkier texture while retaining its freshness and pungent limestone character after four days in the refrigerator. In fact, all of the 2011 Valli pinots benefitted from significant aeration.
