Good full red. Wild aromas of musky dark berries, sandalwood, roasted meat and smoky crushed rock, plus a hint of exotic spices. Then creamy, rich and dry in the mouth, but without quite the energy or nuance of the Bannockburn or Gibbston bottlings. Distinctly savory pinot noir, showing slightly edgy acidity and more soil than primary fruit. Suggests limestone soil but I don't find the lift or flavor definition of this winery's other vineyard-designated 2009 pinots. But with its very good length and grip, this is nevertheless a very satisfying mouthful of wine.
