What a special treat. The Roagna 2016 Barbaresco Pajè Vecchie Viti shows extreme elegance and grace with heightened complexity and sharpness that can only be obtained with old vines. It opens slowly to reveal red and purple fruits and moves forward to shadings of spice, earth and truffle essence. What stands out most, however, is the very silky and fine nature of the mouthfeel. Only 3,112 bottles were produced.

This red isn't showy, but there is a depth to it, offering flavors that range from strawberry and cherry to wild herbs, hay, tobacco and iron.
