The straightforward 2001 Solanes is a blend of 55% Carignan and the rest Cabernet Sauvignon, Grenache, Syrah, and Merlot. It is an earthy, straightforward, austere, medium-bodied offering with a nice perfume, but a dry, raspy palate. Drink it over the next 3-4 years.
