The 2008 Casalferro is 100% Merlot that spent 18 months in oak, mostly French barrels. It shows excellent delineation and polish in its juicy dark plums, cassis and flowers. This medium-bodied wine is made in super-ripe yet highly appealing style, with terrific overall balance and harmony. It, too, is one of the finer wines I have tasted from Brolio in some time. Anticipated maturity: 2013-2023.
