The 2007 Casalferro is another wine that is well-made from a technical standpoint, but that shows little real character. Dark fruit and French oak are very nicely balanced, but more should have been possible in this important Tuscan year. I tasted the Casalferro from a 500ml bottle designed for professional tastings. Anticipated maturity: 2010-2015.
This set of new releases from Ricasoli is topped off with a superb version of the flagship Castello di Brolio. Readers should note that two wines in this article were samples from 500ml bottles prepared specifically for professional tastings.
