The Castello di Farnetella 2017 Poggio Granoni is mostly Sangiovese (70%) with smaller parts Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah. The wine opens to pretty dark color with noticeable concentration that we commonly see in Tuscan wines from this hot and dry vintage. That extra richness and power appears on the bouquet with dark, plummy aromas backed by dried cherry and blackberry preserves. Background notes of potting soil and spicy tobacco also appear. Some 10,000 bottles were released.
