Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah grapes go into the 2009 Poggio Granoni. Vineyards are located some 550 meters above sea level where steep temperature shifts between day and night help to enhance the primary aromas of the grapes. This is a dark and thick wine with balanced extraction and evident power. The bouquet opens slowly to shows bold cherry fruit, spice, leather, tobacco and dried rose petal. Despite it many years of bottle aging, this wine feels and tastes much younger than it really is. It is showing a slow and steady evolution that should move it forward for the next decade.
