It would be hard to find a better bargain than the 1998 Perdera (a blend primarily composed of Sardinia's indigenous Monica grape). A deep ruby color is followed by peppery, kirsch liqueur, and berry scents and flavors. Supple, fleshy, and deep, with excellent purity and good spice, this gutsy, Cotes du Rhone-like red tastes of sunshine and ripe fruit. Enjoy it over the next 2-3 years.
