Some readers may rate the 2002 Perdera IGT (produced from the indigenous Monica and Bovale Sardo grapes as well as a touch of Carignan) even higher than I did. This unwooded cuvee is a big, robust, exuberant, dark ruby/purple-tinged red with hints of white chocolate, pepper, black cherries, and earth. Made in a sweet, medium-bodied, chewy, fleshy style, it will drink well for 2-3 years. A Leonardo Locascio Selection, Winebow, Hohokus, NJ; tel. (201) 445-0620
