The tank-fermented and aged 1997 Perdera is a robust red wine made primarily from the Monica grape, with small amounts of Carignan and several other indigenous varietals. A knock-out value, it possesses a deep ruby color, and a peppery, dried herb, spicy, chocolatey, berry-scented nose. This medium-bodied wine fills the mouth with good fruit, a smooth texture, and a spicy finish. Drink it over the next 1-2 years. A Leonardo Lo Cascio Selection, Winebow, Hohokus, NJ; tel.
