The 2008 Reserva, a blend of 75 % Tempranillo, 10 % Mazuelo, 5 % Garnacha and 10 % Others (the official name of Cabernet Sauvignon) has turned into a modern classic of Rioja, with its nose of spices, leather, smoke and red fruit aromas, its polished tannins and approachable palate. The flavors of red fruit are intermixed with licorice and spicy notes and it has very fine tannins, good acidity, with a persistent aftertaste. This is drinking very well today, but has the balance to age gracefully. Drink now-2020.
These were modern Riojas in their early days (the winery was created in 1989), often marked by the Cabernet Sauvignon used in many of their wines which seem to be turning more classical as time passes by.
