The 2014 Saint Aubin 1er Cru le Charmois has a reserved, quite Chablis-like bouquet with cold granite and flint scents, white flowers and perhaps a hint of baking powder in the background. Lovely definition here and beautifully focused. The palate is very well balanced but shows a touch more fatness than the other Saint Aubins. As a consequence, perhaps it does not covet the same nervosité and tension as say, the En Remilly at the moment. Still, it doles out pleasure, if not the same intellect.
