Lafarge's 1976 Volnay Village is at its peak, bursting from the glass with a thrilling bouquet of cherries, raw cocoa, candied peel and sweet soil tones. Medium to full-bodied, fleshy and intense, it's built around chalky, vintage-typical tannins and tangy acids. Long and sumptuous, this must have been austere for the first three decades of its life, but it is showing beautifully today.
