The 2009 Malondro is the same blend, but from older vines up to 75 years of age and entirely aged in new French oak. The nose is more serious and less defined than the Latria, but it retains the same purity, and eventually lovely raspberry and pomegranate fruit rise to the surface. The palate is medium-bodied with smooth, rounded tannins. It is fresh and bright, handling that new oak with style, while the finish is composed and refined, with bright red berries, pomegranate and minerals. It could do with more persistency in the mouth, but it remains a well-crafted Montsant red. Drink 2013-2019.
