The opaque purple-colored 2000 Merlot dell'Umbria (15,000 cases) spent five months in French oak (30% new and 70% used once). It possesses an opaque purple color as well as a big, thick perfume of chocolate, mocha, blackberries, and cherry liqueur. Medium to full-bodied and ripe, with low acidity and sweet tannin, this unfined, unfiltered, classy, concentrated red will drink beautifully over the next 4-5 years.
