Laurent's top 1993s are massively concentrated, huge, intense wines that will require 8-10 years of cellaring. The grand crus from Gevrey-Chambertin are some of the finest wines in the Laurent portfolio. The black/purple-colored Chambertin Clos de Beze (from an 80-year old vineyard) is extremely backward and tannic. It will not be close to drinkability before 2005, but there is every indication that it will evolve into a remarkable wine.
