The 1999 Volnay Les Fremiets is medium to dark ruby-colored and has a roasted oak and blackberry-scented nose. There is massive depth to this chunky wine. It is loaded with spicy, cinnamon-laced blackberries and cassis. This powerful, extracted, and firm wine also has a long, pure finish. Anticipated maturity: 2003-2010.
